First impressions

I haven’t spent enough time shooting with this camera to make a conclusive decision about it, but from what I have experienced so far I must admit that this camera is awesome! I was a bit weary about it mainly because the image sensor had such a high pixel count (14.7 megapixels) and while this captures a lot of detail and gives me enough room to crop without loss in quality, it also means that noise problems can arise quickly in low light situations. I take plenty of night shots so low noise is a must. Thankfully the camera has the noise levels well under control. The fact that it gives me manual control over all the settings helps out a lot in those situations.
Also, the macro mode lets you get as close as 1cm to the subject and still focus in to produce a sharp detailed photo. 1cm is about as close as you can get to anything you’re trying to take a picture of. The detail really impressed me. In this photo (you’ll have to zoom in to see the full image) you can see the reflection of the surrounding area in the water droplet that’s on the blade of grass. I was impressed.
This shot was taken from the ground level (obviously) at a plane that was flying high above my house. I zoomed in the camera all the way and then cropped the image of the plane in Photoshop. It’s not a particularly clean image but I think you can clearly see the name of the airline on the side.
Still have a lot of pictures to take before I begin to give this camera too much praise, but for now I’m very happy with it.
