Markers are all sorts of fun…

Been working with markers a lot recently. It’s pretty funny because I used to shun the idea of drawing with markers. Fortunately I’m less of a n00b now than I was then (but still am) and I’ve slowly been amassing a collection of different marker shades to experiment with. Still trying to get the hang of using the different angles of the broad tip shape. I’m certain that the key to mastering this medium, as with pretty much everything else in life, will be in the practice. And that’s what these drawings are: practice. Working out ideas and such.
One thing that I have gotten over which is a big step for me is the “permanent” (permanent-ness?) of the markers. Last year a lot of my work was done with black ink & different inking brushes. I managed to get over the fact that I cannot erase any of the marks I made with that and became very confident in my brush strokes. So I think that’s helping me with the markers. Still, I notice that the blending of colors & overlays adds a new challenge. I think brushing up on my color theory would help immensely here.
In any case, here are some recent sketches from memory. No references were used. More coming when I feel the urge to not be lazy and photograph the work
