Surface Computing

I’ve been following this since Microsoft released the early testing videos a few years ago, but now the first models are shipping to stores. I’m not a Microsoft hater, I’m not really a supporter for that matter, but this new technology is the gateway to a lot of innovation even though it’s still really early in development.

I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing stuff like this in homes soon. A new way to arrange and organize family pictures and videos, digital albums available at your fingertips (actual fingertips), and everything wireless. All devices in the home communicating without wires. I can see the practical uses now like the video shows, but I’m more interested in developing more touch sensetivity and surface pressure. The idea would be that this could be used as a digital surface for artists. Drawing and painting directly on the surface using Photoshop or any software.
It can be done. Wacom has already done it with the Cintiq. I’m interested in seeing the price tag when it becomes available to the public.
