This Bitch Knows How To Hate

Apr 29th, 2010 by Chris

If you’re bored, here’s a bit of entertainment. 8 Minutes of Avatar / James Cameron Bashing. She doesn’t even spare his Mother. She also talks about Global warming not being real and how sharing real world information in the classroom is irresponsible. Oh how I have LOL’d. There’s an audience for everyone IĀ suppose.

    Thanks for the 8min entertainment…

Her lisp mixed with her accent makes me feel like the tiny little microphones on her podium are absolutely soaked in her saliva… (that’s what she said)

I’ve never thought of the movie “Avatar” as anti-American as this woman says because the storyline is cartoonish. Everyone on the human side (with the exception of the three or four who rebel) are the embodiment of evil: it oozes out of their pores like pus. Everyone on the Navi side is the personification of benevolence, harmony, and peace (except the jealous ex-fiancee of the female lead and even he becomes a courageous, self-sacrificing martyr for the cause). To me, this movie is a mixture of “Platoon” with “Dances with Wolves” with none of the philosophical nuances.
The speaker does make a valid point (although she doesn’t really say it). It is: Question everything and everybody – teachers, authorities, politicians, etc. Just because they have a certain amount of knowledge, or are privy to certain information doesn’t mean that everything that comes out of their mouths is the absolute truth. Data can be manipulated (global warming e-mail scandal), numbers and figures can be omitted from consideration to give you that answer you are looking for (Obamacare number crunching method). History can be re-written to justify and support current beliefs or to hide embarassing facts (do you know about Manzanar?).
The world is not black & white. Development is not bad but it cannot be uncontrolled. Mining is not bad; it cannot be allowed to rape and mutilate the environment.
In the final analysis the question becomes: Are you willing to pay for the increased costs of limited development and regulated mining? How much is a gallon of gas or a flat screen TV or an X-Box or even a box of nails worth to you? Rampant consumerism is a driving force for the type of evils portrayed in Avatar and yet, it keeps most of us employed and puts food on our tables and gives us the level of comfort to which we’ve become accustomed.
I don’t think James Cameron believes in the black & white ideology of his film; it would be hypocritical of him to advocate an abandonment of technology when his films are at the vanguard of technological advancements. Avatar is the most visually stunning film I have ever seen without taking acid.
