America, The Ignorant
Mar 14th, 2011 by Chris
Maybe that title was a little harsh, or maybe not! Here’s a video interview of a few American citizens, Sarah Palin Supporters, waiting to get her new book signed. My only question after watching this video is this: How can people in this day and age, with access to literally unlimited resources and information through the internet, still support someone and have no idea what the person they are supporting stands for?!?!
Oye pero eso es unbalibabol!
Watch the entire thing for some guaranteed face-palming reaction!
One Response to “America, The Ignorant”

Very insightful video; people are eagerly searching for ‘something’. To that end, they will ‘latch on’ to slogans, catch phrases, an ideologies that sound good, though there may be no substance behind it. Sarah Palin is an excellent example: plenty of style but no substance. My biggest objection to her candidacy (besides her ignorance of foreign and domestic policy issues) is the fact that she abandoned her post as governor of Alaska mid-way through her term so that she can establish her ‘stardom’ and possible candidacy. I find that shameful and inexcusable.
As I said, people are desperate for someone to ‘show them the way’; they will put aside all critical analysis of statements and past track records of those speaking these ideologies because they want to believe. Consider Mr. ‘Yes-We-Can’ Obama: People ignored his track record (e.g. his associations with William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Bernadette Dohrn, his total lack of leadership experience, etc.) because we had ‘the audacity of hope’ (that or because we might be thought of as less racist by electing a black president).
Our situation is not unique. History has several recent examples of people surrendering to an idea (e.g. Chavez, Castro, Hitler, et. al.). In almost all of these cases, people thought: “It can’t be worse than what we already have”, and reality has shown that “Yes We Can” (sink deeper).
