Blackground Sketches

Oct 19th, 2007 by Chris

Been busy with some artwork that I can’t really show here yet, so I’ve had a lack of subject matter to post, but that should be remedied this weekend. For now here’s something that I’ve been experimenting with this past week.

I found a pad of black art paper in my closet and decided to bring out the old colored pencils to started to draw whatever came to mind. It’s served as a great exercise in thinking spatially and more about shapes than lines because the black paper serves as the dark areas and negative space where on white paper I would usually fill in these areas. Not sure if that makes any sense, but these drawings were really fun to work on.

That Shrek and Bum one are pretty tight. $5 for both?
