London Night Photography
Sep 3rd, 2008 by Chris
So London seems like it would be an amazing place to photograph by itself and even amazing(er?) to photograph at night. Stumbled across this London based photographer called Jason Hawkes that took some amazing pictures of London at night from a helicopter. What I found most impressive was his method for shooting. He describes using one or two gyro stabalized mounts to keep the camera still enough to allow long exposure times. I’d also imagine that the helicopter would have to be kept pretty still to allow this method to work properly. From the look of the photos he uses a very high ISO on some to prevent motion blurs. The trade off would be a noisy picture, but anyone that has seen my photos knows that I’ll take noise over a blast of flash any day of the week.
Seeing the pros shoot like this only inspires me further.
