Ummm… Holy Shit. This movie looks positively bad-ass. Definitely not the Star Trek I was used to watching on TV, which isn’t necessary a bad thing. I’m all for Kirk and Spock kicking some ass in outer space. There’s a High Def version online that you can watch by clicking here. I have a feeling this trailer will attract a wide variety of audiences and not just the trekies.
After a long week and a wasted trip we finally finished the other wall for All Sports Depot down in Key Largo Florida. The second installation went by much faster since we had already learned from our mistakes and experience the first time around. I’ll probably swing by the store and take some photos after the store is all set-up. For now you can view a few photos of the process and the final product by clicking here.
This project was very time consuming, but also very rewarding. I’ve received nothing but positive comments from everyone that’s seen the wall so I must have done something right. Not to mention I had a great time working on this from the early design stage and through the final application. Can’t wait for the next big thing.
Remember that big project I didn’t want to talk about in my last post? No? Well here it is anyway:
Printing the Panels (10ft. x 52in.)
Starting it off
Halfway Done Installing
Me & Mr. Sunday Preping the Wall
Trimming & Adding the Final Details
Finito!
Finished prduct measures 10 Feet tall by 30 Feet wide. This is just the male section of the store, the female section will be printed and installed next week.
This job was fun! Spent long hours in the layout stage trying to scale up and clean up the images since they were blown-up as much as 10 times their original size. This was also one of the larges Photoshop files I have ever worked with weighing in at almost 3 gigs. It feels very rewarding to complete something this big and have everyone happy with the turn out. It’s also pretty amazing to see my own design stretched across a wall like this.
I’ve uploaded some night photos I took this past Sunday to my Flickr Photostream. Been kinda quiet on the blog front lately mainly because most of my time has been devoted to a big project I’ve been working on the past few weeks. Don’t want to say much about it now, probably because it’s been the focus of my work life for a while now and I want to finish already. Not getting bored or sick of it, I’m jsut anxious to get the final product installed, photographed, and all wrapped up already so I can show it off.
You’ll undoubtedly see plenty of this project on here after we’re done.
If you were smart enough to catch The Dark Knight in Theaters then you probably saw the first trailer for a new movie called Watchmen. The movie is based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore (same guy that wrote V for Vendetta and tons of other stuff). Anyway this movie looks amazing. It’s directed by Zack Snyder who directed 300 and I must admit that he has a very visual style that seems to translate the comic book panel to the silver screen extremely well. Aside from being a great book, this story is NOT your typical superhero story. In fact it’s the opposite. I’ll shut-up now just in case you want to pick it up and read it, or if you’d like to just wait for the movie.
My grandfather turned 80 this past week and naturally my family had a big party in his honor with friends, familiars, and beer. I seized the opportunity to finally photograph some people with my camera. All the photos can be seen by visiting the flickr photoset page here.
I was pleasantly surprised by the black & white photos this camera produces. Only minor adjustments had to be made in Photoshop (mainly because I like my B&W photos little on the contrasty side), but overall I was very happy with some of the photos. Now if only I could train people to ignore the camera and break the habit of turning and smiling when they see one pointed at them.
